Citrus Laundry Bomb DIY!

Citrus Laundry Bomb DIY!

 Raise of hands ^^^, how many of you currently have a basket(s) of laundry sitting and staring at you, waiting to be washed? I'm pretty sure the kids' pile in our bathroom is almost as tall as the counter!

Well, maybe before you start that laundry, you will want to throw a batch of these laundry bombs together!

What you will need:

*1 1/2 C Borax or washing soda (I used Borax Powder from Mountain Rose Herbs)

* 4oz bar of soap-finely grated (I used Orange Twist from Backwoods Soap Company

* 2 Tbs Epsom Salt

* 1/3-1/2 C distilled white vinegar

*15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil (I used Lemon from Mountain Rose Herbs)

*Large mixing bowl

*fine grater

*mold to put tabs into

You can make these whatever scent you would like, I chose Lemon-Orange.

I started by finely grating the entire bar of soap (this Orange Twist scent is to die for!)

Once the soap is grated, add the borax and epsom salt and mix together.

Next, add the vinegar and mix (it is easier to mix this part with your hands, rather than a spoon).  Add this in a little at a time.  You want the final texture to feel like wet sand.

**Note, I doubled the batch that I made, but only ended up using about 1/4 cup of vinegar, and I felt like it may have still been too much.

Once you have your desired consistency, add 15-20 drops of essential oil and mix.

Now it is time to fill the molds! I would suggest making them about a 3oz size.  I did read, if you have a HE washing machine, to make them a little smaller (maybe 2- 2.5oz).

After the molds are filled, place them in the freezer for a few hours to let them harden.

Once hardened, remove from freezer and pop bombs out of the molds. They will  need to set out to dry for several hours (I set mine on a cookie sheet, on the counter over night). If you do not let them dry out to harden, they will crumble to the touch.

Now that the are hard and dry, you can START THAT LAUNDRY!!!

I think I am going to gift these to Katie and have her come do my laundry next week!
